Discipleship Journey
One of our desires is to create space for our members to continue the process of being transformed in the image of Christ for the sake of others. Discipleship is a journey we don’t take on our own, but alongside other followers of Jesus. We want to create space for our members to take steps together in this direction, by offering one on one discipleship journeys, three times a year.
Below, you will find the basics of these journeys.
Duration: Each journey will last between 8-12 weeks.
Content: The two people will decide between one of six books (found below) that will serve to guide the time together.
Rhythm: The meeting rhythm will be weekly, for at least an hour and the time and location will be whatever fits the schedule of the two people. For example: Two people may choose to meet over coffee at 6:30 AM on Wednesday mornings for eight consecutive weeks. Another may meet over lunch for ten weeks. The day, time, and location (can even be virtual if necessary) are solely dependent on the schedule of the two people.
NOTE: In order to mitigate against the current of ghosting and lack of commitment that are prevalent in our culture, you must be a Member of City Church Marietta in order to register to participate. If you are, our team will match you with someone else for the journey. If you are not a Member, you can find more information about our process for this here. Additionally, if you believe your current life circumstances will prevent you from being consistent with attending as well as reading the content in advance, we suggest you not register at this time and wait to register during a different season of life.
Other FAQs
-Is this journey mixed gender? No, we will pair men with men, and women with women.
-Will we be in the same stage of life as the other person? Potentially. Our hope is that this allows people in different stages of life to walk together more closely, but we may also not be able to accommodate that in every circumstance.
-How often can I sign up to participate in a journey? You can sign up at each new interval (Winter, Summer, or Fall) and we will do our best to pair each person with someone new.
-Can I participate while still being a part of Young Adult, Men’s or Women’s? Absolutely! We encourage you to continue to participate in these, if you are able to, while being a part of this journey. This journey is designed to take different steps towards growth in your relationship with Jesus.
